Former Redwing and certified badass, Brendan Shanahan knows how to hold a grudge. In a satellite radio interview Shanny (that's what you call him if you're in the know) talked about growing up as a Maple Leafs fan and getting to meet Toronto captain Rick Vaive in 1983. “When I was 14 years old I was skating in the summertime at a rink in Toronto,” Shahanan recalled. “Rick Vaive happened to be skating at an adjoining rink and we were actually in dressing rooms that were right next to each other. I went in when he was sort of settled and asked him for an autograph. I didn’t get the best response from Rick Vaive at that time.”
Ouch...spurned by your hero. That's gotta sting, time to curl up in a ball and cry right? Well fast forward five years: Shanny is a rookie in the NHL and is playing against Vaive. Does he laugh about the autograph with Vaive during the pregame skate? No, he actually waits until he is taking a meaningless faceoff against Vaive and then kicks his ass mercilessly. Damn dude, that is some serious comeuppance.
