Sweet Surrender

Favre will not go to the Vikes and will stay retired. Finally! I think everyone would agree that the personal circuses Favre created last offseason and this offseason were very lame. And that no one wanted to hear anything more about his next comeback. This summer, during the height of the vikings rabble, I remembered those three MVP seasons (back to back to back) for Favre and how amazed I was with him. Its fascinating to have watched someone that I revered so greatly become so annoying so fast, and I struggle to come up with another example. Isaiah Thomas Maybe?

In any case, now that he is retired, I can slowly forget about the lameness of him being on the Jets and then trying to be on the Vikings and instead remember his dominance. He is after all the all-time record holder in stars, consecutive starts, victories, touchdowns, yards, and completions. All amazing records and ones that are hard to imagine anyone breaking. That is, of course, assuming that Favre really is retired...which he is, isn't he?

"Both teams played hard...goodnight and godbless."

  1. Amen. I heard someone recently say (I think he was talking about Pete Rose) that it is unfair that we expect good athletes to be good at life. The soap opera that Brett has put on for the last 2+ years hardly counts as him being bad at life, but I guess I expect a legend like Favre to know when it's his time, and gracefully walk away. Maybe you can't be that sick at football and also have that awareness to know that you've become a drama queen.
