So Stafon Johnson was benchin 275 and in the middle of his set, bar slipped from his hand and landed on his throat. Ouch. That's no laughing matter. He underwent reconstructive surgery and has since received an outpouring of support and well wishes from millions of fans. Today he responded via twitter:

ReplyDeletehe's obvi done for the season. and his prospects of playing in teh nflz depend on whether his larynx/associated real estate is somehow less stable and protected post-injury and reconstruction. all obvious points of total speculation. the generic point about whether he can talk depends on how much (if any) damage was inflicted upon his recurrent laryngeal nerve slash vocal cords slash rest of necessary parts of the larynx. to say nothing of having a patent airway and weaning him off teh vent/trach tubing, etc etc...
