VICTORY!!!!!

In case you missed it...the Detroit Lions won a regular season NFL contest. Making it 644 days, since their last win on Dec. 23, 2007. And even though this is one regular season win for a team that is likely to only win 2 more (tops) there is an undeniable excitement about it. I for one shouted victory in a local Cleveland bar and my colleagues and I were treated with a round of applause from the Browns fans. As ridiculous as it is, it was our version of a playoff win...Jeff Backus (the first player drafted by Matt Millen) put it succinctly as he fought back the tears: "It's a monkey off everybody's back," said Backus. "It's not good for the team. It's not good for the city for us to continue losing." This victory "allows us to move forward." After the game Schwarz made the team walk back out and shake hands with the fans, a gesture that will no doubt win him points with the beleaguered loyalists.

Stafford was definitely better, going 21/36 for 241 yards and a TD (QB rating 103.8). More specifically he didn't turn over the ball which has been a problem, and his penchant for using his cannon to overthrow receivers on deep routes seems to be getting a little better as well.

"Both teams played hard...goodnight and godbless."
