Your Prayers are Answered?

"God Chose Memphis as the place that I will continue my career" said Ivo via twitter.

Sure, God did. Not a 1 year 3.5 million $ contract that no one else was willing to top, but an act of fate that has landed you in the Mecca of professional basketball: Memphis. For better or worse the Grizzlies will look like this:

PG: Mike Conley Jr.
SG: Allen Iverson
SF: Rudy Gay
PF: Zach Randolph
C: Marc Gasol

SG2: OJ Mayo
C2: Hasheem Thabeet
SF2: Marco Jaric

Weird right? And in some strange way kind of good? I mean obviously not super tight or anything but there is some young blood that could be tight in that bunch. The Grizz are probably not presuming to win hella this year and are instead likely looking to sell seats with Ivo in the mix, but I'm not really sure if he will help in that regard. If you were a young sports nerd in Memphis jsut looking for a reason (any reason) to go to a game wouldn't it be to see Conley Jr distribute, or Mayo shoot the lights out, or number one pick Thabeet block some shots, or Gasol be the Fat Spaniard? I don't see what Ivo adds to the mix cause the Grizzlies already have talent worth watching, what they haven't done is win and AI is not the answer for that problem. I guess he might creep back up to 20 ppg if they give him the minutes and the control of the offense that he is accustomed to, but that obviously hampers where they are going with their back court in the future. The elephant in the room here is Zach Randolph, how hilariously self-destructive will a team with both AI and Randolph be? Who knows, but thats 40 shots per game that won't be going to Conley, Mayo, Gay, Gasol, and Thabeet...a worthy starting lineup in their own right.

"Both teams played hard...goodnight and godbless."
