2009 Hockey Hall of Fame Selection

Later this morning voters in Toronto will be selecting the 2009 class for the hockey hall of fame. Normally I would wait until after they have done the selection to comment on this, but the great Steve Yzerman (my childhood hero) is eligible for the first time. So just in case any of the voters do a quick sporting nerd check before they cast their ballots: do not insult me and all of Detroit by making Stevie Y anything other than a first ballot hall-of-famer. As the longest serving captain in sports he amassed the 6th most points in NHL history, won 3 cups, a gold medal, and tacked on a Conn Smythe, Selke and Masterton trophy. Give it up yall! Also available for selection are Yzerman's teammates on the 2002 stanley cup champion Detroit Redwings: Luc Robitaille and Brett Hull.

"Both teams played hard...goodnight and godbless."
