The Great White Hype

When the Lakers and Magic kick off the finals this Thursday it will signify much more than two elite teams vying for the crown, it will transcend Disneyworld versus Disneyland, it will shake every basketball fan to their core. We will finally see the spoils of the 2006 nba draft as two elite young talents square off on the ultimate stage: that's right Adam Morisson will complete his destiny and face JJ Redick.

Redick has led an otherwise talentless Magic team all the way to the finals by posting a stellar 6.2 ppg 1.9 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 22 minutes, and what's crazy is that he only needed to play in 12 of the 19 games the Magic had this postseason to put up those numbers (build around him or trade him people). As good as Redick has been, Morrison has been sublime. His 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 turnovers in 0 minutes have been key for the Lakeshow. Sure Morrison has had a better supporting cast then Redick, but in 0 games this postseason his player efficiency rating is infinity. INFINITY! Can you place a value on that? (by definition, no). Only time will tell who will go into Cooperstown as the greater champion, but in the interim we can all be treated to a dream match up that's been three long years in the making.

"Both teams played hard...good night and god bless."

  1. Those Nike commercials with the puppets should feature these two instead of Kobe and LeBron. I think the Morrison puppet would make it more like an episode of Crank Yankers than a shoe commercial.
