When Nick Lidstrom didn't suit up for the last two games of the Western Conference Finals, the entire city of Detroit was sweating. In addition to being the best defenceman in hockey Nicky Lid has been a rock, never missing a playoff game before. His absence was billed as the dreaded "lower body injury" and Wings fans were all thinking a groin pull of some kind. SURPRISE! Lidstrom has played in every game these finals...looking sluggish at times but still playing at a high level. So what was that injury that took out a nearly indestructible player at the most important time of the year? A "nearly catastrophic injury to his testicle." Apparently Patrick Sharp speared Lidstrom's ball in game three of that series, nearly destroying it. What the hell? Just writing that in a blog is painful. Lidstrom only missed those two games and has been fighting it out in this great 7 games finals series...what a thug.
