On June 8, 1976, in the hills of scenic Sasebo, Nagasaki, there was born a child named Kenji Johjima. And on that same day, in the equally un-scenic Palos Verdes, California, was born a child named Lindsay Davenport. In 1999, young Kenji was selected to the honored “Best Nine” team chosen by Japanese sportswriters. That same year, Linsay took Wimbledon. In 2000, when Lindsay won the Australian Open, Kenji took the Japan Series Fighting Spirit Prize, which I believe that year was a salad shooter. This is not just a “hey, look, these people have the same birthday” story. I truly believe that there is an element that runs through both of them. I call it the Johjiport.
Impressive.
