The best player in the 09 draft?

You heard it here, not first, but somewhere before last: it will be Ricky Rubio.

I won't waste too many words, just watch a little of this (skip to 30 seconds in for the JIMP-worthy highlights, not sure what they were thinking w/ the first 30 seconds):

Now, I guess there are issues about his draft status and he might stay in Spain another year, something that might explain him going only 5th, maybe our resident contract guru Ganesh can give an explanation of that. For me, I am late to the Ricky Rubio Dreamboat Bandwagon, but I'm on it now.

  2. I totally agree (sorry dude I posted that video in a May post entitled "Ricky Rubio is the sex." ). As for the contract Rubio has a 6 mil $ buyout to break his contract with his spanish team. NBA rules dictate that a team can only pay 500k, and the player will have to pay the rest. Obvi Rubio doesn't have the capital yet so they are working on a "deal." Nebulous as that sounds this exactly the hold up that kept Darko from coming over after he was drafted but they were able to work out a deal. The alternative to a deal is to let Rubio playout the last year of his spanish contract.

  3. Yeah I was about to ask, "hasn't Ganesh already deemed him the sex?"

That is my understanding of the financial situation as well. Apparently, I've also heard that RR can pay the buyout to the Spaniards over time, so that "help" with the buyout could be built into the form of a larger contract (is that even legal)?
